Hello
Hi my name is Akshita Kasthuri! I'm a high school student with a deep interest in the systems that shape our lives, from economic opportunity to legal access to the mental health resources our generation needs. I'm passionate about using writing, research, and reflection to explore how these systems work (or don’t), and how young people like me can better understand them. I hope to study business, law, or public policy in college and continue building projects that connect ideas to real-world impact.
Mind on Civic and Our Goal
Mind on Civic is a solo-run blog created to explore the intersections of policy, finance, justice, and mental health through a Gen Z lens. It is a space where complex topics are broken down into accessible insights, from school funding and eviction policy to personal budgeting and therapy access. Whether through research, storytelling, or reflection, each post is designed to inform and spark meaningful conversations about the world we live in and the changes we can help create.
The goal of Mind on Civic is to bridge the gap between big systems and everyday life by making topics like policy, finance, justice, and mental health more accessible to Gen Z. Too often, these issues feel abstract, overwhelming, or disconnected from our personal experiences, but they shape nearly everything around us, from the schools we attend to the jobs we work to the support we can access when we’re struggling.
This platform exists to simplify, humanize, and unpack the things that matter. Through thoughtful research, storytelling, and personal insight, Mind on Civic aims to help young people build awareness about the systems that govern their lives and start thinking critically about the roles we all play within them. The goal isn’t to have all the answers. It is to ask better questions, start conversations, and make civic understanding feel like something we can actually own and engage with. Whether you're here to learn, reflect, or just feel less alone in trying to make sense of it all, Mind on Civic is built for you.
